Signed a contract in July 2007. Work seemed very good at first, but then everything changed. Were told that certain lighting was on back order for several months, but when I called the lighting centre months later I was informed that it was never ordered and they never heard of the company. It is now mid-May 2008 and although most of the work is completed, there are still several deficiencies that have not been fixed, paint on the very expensive carpet, one wall needs to be enirely redone, the ceiling is terrible, the heating ducts that was put in produce no heat, there is still drywall dust coming out of the vents upstairs, our laundry room is covered in a terrible mess that was left behind. We have to hire a cleaning crew to clean the vents and do a thorough cleaning of our basement because the dust is embedded in the carpet. We have not seen or heard from them in over a month and they still have our house key.
First off the star ratings are false. Especially budget. I never once asked for extra money for this project I stuck to my origional price which they agreed to by signing a contract. In fact this customer was late with a payment due to what I can only assume to be excessive spending based on the purchases they had made while we were working on their basement causing them to run out of money to pay us. Second of all there was some dust which is normal for a construction site. There was a light that was ordered for the stairwell through DaVille lighting. I deal with Judy. She knows who I am. For some reason this order did not go through when I ordered it. They even stated they had a friend who worked there whom they called. They stated that their friend had confirmed how long it took for lights to arrive. I in turn refunded them the $250.00 for the cost of the light which this customer was fine with. As far as the heating, this is a basement and there is only so much I can do besides add a fireplace to heat it to the same degree as the main floor. In fact all we did was add an extra vent and a cold air return. Also I could feel a great deal of heat coming from the vents when I intalled the vent registers. The ceiling was fine. As far as the walls are concerned I have pictures to testify the quality of the work. The only wall that needed redone was the one this customer destroyed with his furniture when he tried to get the furniture downstairs. Most of the mess in the laundry was theirs other than a bit of dust and a few sheets of MDF which this customer wanted to keep. There was a little paint on the carpet which I removed the bulk of. I had also suggested a few high quality chemicals that would easily remove it, one of which this customer knew about. As far as dust in the carpet, the only dust on it was drywall dust which is easily removable and does not "embed" into anything. We had completed this project and had not heard from this customer again despite them having our number all spring. This customer was thrilled with our work until we fell behind schedual. However the project was completed and the contract was eventually fullfilled.
