Client Feedback/Complaints

Hi,

I am interested in knowing whether there is any "discontent " with client feedback/complaints - particularly poor/vicious ones. Does this site have the responsibility to verify the information before posting to ensure nothing libelous or damaging is posted that is NOT true.

I would be interested in what people think.

Joey

Hi Joey this is a soar spot for contractors and we are all working on this. We all want the same thing and soon in the near future I am sure we will have a place on this site that contractors can talk about bad clients.

More specifically, should Handy Canadian be posting none verified client complaints that obviously don't tell the real story.

Hi Joey- quite often you'll see on this site that some of the clients have posted in anger & come close to slandering contractors. We've got big shoulders so we can take it---to a point. We don't mind someone telling their side of the story--providing it's the real story & not some half-assed fairy tale that shines a heavenly light on them & puts the contractor on the same level as a politician. Thats when we tell our side.

I believe the main purpose of this site is for clients to contact potential contractors--research them, post comments on work they have had done, ask for advice, etc - and it's a great place for contractors to let off a little steam or discuss whatever might be on our minds.

Plus it gives us something to do when the snow is up to our ass & we can't get out of our driveway!

Hi Joey,

I beleive that this site gives the customer the right to review a contractor they experienced good or bad. Unfortunately, and not that you are one of them but there are a lot of unqualified (to put it mildly) contractors out there who need to be exposed. With that being said, anytime a customer has posted a review for my company, we are given the opportunity to reply to the posting. If someone has posted a false or malicious review against your company, you should contact HandyCanadian customer service and explain the situation as you encountered it. I would hope that they would either remove the negative posting if it were unqualified or at the very least least allow your response to the situation to be viewed as well.

Good Luck

I have an older home and would like to convert my basement laundry room into a laundry rooom / bathroom. I've had 6 separate contractors visit my home to look at the proposed bathroom and was promised to get an estimate within one week. They have all indicated they were interested in doing the work and would "get back to me" within a few days. It has been two weeks or more and only one contractor has returned my call. Is there a lack of interest in doing such a job? Or do contractors need help on the customer service end of the business?

Hello Scott,

Interesting, I hear you but I am on the other side of the coin. I respond quickly but the courtesy email to say thanks for your time, well that is another story.

I am not sure why, most of the time, the no response equals to " they are not interested" if they do not get back to you, move on until you get what you want.

That is what I have done over the years as I work with all types of individuals and I am not one to sit around if you promised me quote or response within a reasonable time.

Not sure where you are, however if you are within my range of distance I am happy to meet with you and give you an estimate.

Germano Creative Interior Contracting Ltd.

Good luck.

Hello Scott,

I think that when any person states that he/she will get right back to you with an estimate yet fails to do so there could be many reasons why, however the bottom line is that it shows a lack of respect for what ever reason. I have on occasion done just that to a possible customer. In my one case it was simply that the customer called me when clearly she didn't do her homework to figure out just what it was that she wanted in the first place, being so indecisive and unable to communicate with each other can be a little aggravating, and especially if the contractor is expected to read the customers mind. For me this can leave a bad taste in your mouth, so out the door I went running. I wanted to call her back but I was left with such a feeling of relief when I left her home that I decided not to contact her again. Not saying this was your situation, maybe the contractor heard your budget at the time of inspection and thought it was too small of a job, or maybe the contractor was simply not competent and was ashamed to admit it. What ever the reason is or was, I am not sure but if you still are in need of a contractor with a sense of customer care and still need to get that estimate...please give me a call when you are ready. Good luck Scott.

Hi Scott I can not tell you why some contractors do things like that. There are plenty of times I have given an estimate and didn't here anything back either. When I do an estimate I will usually go home and do it first thing at the end of the day or the next morning. Most times I will email the estimate along with insurance info so the customer can do there homework. I am not sure where you live but fell free to email if you wish another estimate. I do work all over Ontario. But the budget has to match what you are looking for! I will not do a job cheaply and my business is built on giving quality products and great customer service. you can email me at abbasservice@gmail.com with your info and complete project details and your current budget. I will be able to tell you at the very beginning if your budget is to low or to high. Everything is depending on your tastes. I have limited space available so I will wait for your email at least you will be able to get a second opinion!

Let's face it; there are bad people out there. Customers or contractors, it doesn't matter your title. We were just scammed by our contractor. Russ Birch of MLRS in Maple ridge, b.c,not only did he run off with our money, leaving our basement and backyard incomplete, he didn't pay any of his sub-contractors and ripped off many other customers. He is a liar beyond words. He said it would take him 3-4 weeks to finish the basement and it's still not close to being done, this was July 22nd. He told us that we were even a couple of days ago ..lol. He apparently is going bankrupt because one of his guys ran off with his money ($5500), this guy was never paid, and Russ owes him $10,000 in income. We paid Russ in total $21,000 ..I know STUPID .NOT IN ONE LUMP. It was 3 draws and it seemed to be coming together, so it looked. Russ is a great liar and a con artist. His pictures that he posted on the site were actually pictures from the famous artist Russell Birch, of a sculptured wood door. Other pictures were from magazines. Seriously, how gullible are we? Anyways, stay way from this train wreck. Russell Birch, if this is even his name, he is a CON----TRACTOR from hell. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
