Hi everyone,
I am considering shade sail(s) for our patio, however, since it's an exposed aggregrate patio, I will need to attach at least one or two ends of the sail(s) to the wall (and use posts for the other connections). Does anyone have any experience with anchoring something to the studs behind the brick, beside a window or at a corner?. There is conflicting info online on whether this is doable or in fact safe.
My house is two storey but behind the wall in question (the one with the 2 tall windows), there is a family room with high ceilings so there is no rim joist. But in the attached picture, there is a second floor where the house juts out on the left hand side, so maybe there is a rim joist there.
Thanks,
GabeC
Hi Gabe,
Rory from Compass Construction in Saskatoon. You need to locate joists and insure you hit them with screws that are long enough to penetrate. Just before you tighten screw dab silicone around screw hole.
