You can't connect rain water drain into sewers.

The drain at the bottom of the stairs must be tied to the weeping tile. As far as I know all municipalities across Canada do not allow rain water to enter the sewer system. Call the city to verify.

Once you dig down to the weeping tile I strongly suggest you test the weeping system and or have your local plumbing contractor run a camera though the system before you do concrete.

The new building code you need to connect your drain to a sewer drain or sump pump. they dont allow connecting the weeping tile because it might gets cloged with leafs, dumping non clean water (construction waste water).

Depending on your slope you might need a sump pump.

What were the quotes you got from the contractors?

I have always connected my projects as per building codes to the weepers. Codes may vary from areas in question.

Hi,

I am an OAA architect who designs these all the time.

You need to connect the drain at the bottom of your walkout to an inside sump pump that will than pump it outside. Yes you will have to open your basement slab to do it. Anything else is illegal.

The weeping tile around the walkout should be connected to sump pump as well but only with a raft foundation.

I am In Hamilton ontario, my house is 30 years old and I don't have a sump pump. How do I find out where the weepers are? And are you sure it won't clog it if there is rain water? Because weepers are always open, they are not really packed or like glued together like pvc. So I just wanted to be sure how do I find where my weepers are and is it ok to do it because I am digging the side for my entrance as well.
