The house is approximately 80-90 years old and has 4 slanted ceilings on the second floor. The inside wall height before the ceilings start to slant is about 2 feet. We would like to remove the hip roof, raise the height of the outer walls, remove some inner walls to convert three bedrooms down to two and put the roof back on. The upstairs is approximately 780 sq. ft. We are looking at buying this house, but would like an idea what this would cost before we officially put in an offer.
Thanks for your help.
There are many things to take into account. Not only Plumbing and Electrical but you usually require a Minor Variance added to your Building Permit because of the additional height of your roof. If you have a brick or steel chimney this would obviously increase as well. You should probably budget for between $ 80K to $ 120K.
