Partially finished basement looking to get done asap. Finished the washroom, 90% framed rest of basement. Electrical completed, but failed first inspection (new arc fault code, Introduced 2016). Have most of the materials needed to finish entire basement. Looking to get basement completed as quick as possible.
Gut and remodel basement, possibly install steel beam to enable removal of teleposts.
The home was built in 1961 and has an inground pool which is about 2 feet from the rear north wall of the house.
The electrical box was recently upgraded but none of the wiring.
A new furnace was installed in 2004 but is in an inconvenient location (about the middle of the house) Would like to move if feasible.
The goal is to better utilize the space which will include a pool table, wet bar, big screen TV and seating area in the main area, a seperate laundry room and the addition of a 2 piece bathroom.
The demolition will be done by the homeowners
There are 4 teleposts in the basement of our 1 1/2 story home built in 1949. The teleposts are stripped and can no longer be adjusted to loosen or tighten as needed. The home has stress cracks in doorways and on ceilings throughout as a result of this problem. We would need to have the teleposts removed and replaced as well as adjusted correctly. This projuect needs to be done as soon as possible in order for us to start other renovations.
1950's 1 1/2 storey home, 1120 sq. ft. The previous original homeowners did a lot of weird stuff themselves. There are ceiling tiles glued to concrete walls, light switches in odd places, flourescent lights on the walls and ceilings. Original tile flooring needs to be replaced by carpet (might need a subfloor). Wood panelling in a tiny bathroom which needs to be enlarged. The new furnace needs to be enclosed, a drain needs to be moved (it's sitting in the middle of the room). Homeowner is prepared to gut the basement but wants the rebuild to be done professionally. Extensive upgrades to electrical need to be done.
I recently moved into a house (bungalow) that has sinking floors and an unfinished basement that needs alot of work.
I would like to see how much it would be to redo the floors as well as the main joists. There are also alot of items in the foundation crawl spaces (wood etc..) from the previous owner that I need to get rid of as well as a cat pee smell in the soil part of the foundation crawl spaces (is it even possible to change that out for new stuff?)
We have a stair case leading down to our basement in our 1978 home that basically has one wooden rail on one side, the rest of it is open. Most of our house guests feel weary about going down the stairs due to it to its openess. With us preparing to start a family we would like to make it a little safer. I have started building part of a stair railing to enclose it, so that its not completely open, however due to my limited time and experience with wood working, its not turning out how I planned. So we would need someone to either remove or fix what I have done, and build the remainder of the railings. We would like it to be made of wood, and be painted a white color to match the remainder of the trim in the house.
There is also room under these stairs where we would like to have a custom storage area added to it withe shelves and doors to enclose the area. Also at our back door there are very high ceilings, we would like to utilize this space and have a storage area built along the ceiling with possibly a ladder that could be pulled down to access the space. We may hold off on the two storage areas mentioned depending on the cost, but we definitely want the stair railings done.
