I am looking for someone who can install a roof vent for me on the roof of a townhouse in Mississauga. The roof is close to 30 feet off the ground, so a large ladder would be needed. I am currently renovating the bathroom and require the work to be done within the next week or so. It is a small job, but something I can't currently take care of with my schedule.
Anyone who has the ladder, the experience and the time to do this please feel free to contact me so we can get this set up and completed.
Thank you
I have a 1960's backsplit home with a corner stone fireplace in the lower (ground level) family room. Use of the fireplace has been discontinued for a number of years due to the smell of smoke in the above bedroom. Chimney was rebuilt from the roof up in the 1990's. There is obviously a crack in the liner below the roof. Fireplace has moved about an inch away from one wall over the past 50 years.
I am looking at repairing the chimney (preference) or installing a gas insert with liner (have gas furnace).
- There a few bends in the trough where water drips from and needs re-sealing.
- There are 4 downspouts that need service - 2 replaced and relocated, and 2 replaced as is in existing location - all from roof to ground.
- Cleaning debris / blockage may also be required in a few spots to ensure proper drainage.
- Trough is 4 inch older standard
- Roof has some broken/missing shingle pieces and require new ones installed (extra shingles available on site)
It's a 6 year old townhouse. We noticed the ceiling in the upper floor dripping today, and upon going into the attic, found a small patch of wetness on the inside of the roof. It appears to be around a nail. There is no visible damage to the shingles when seen from the outside.
Please provide estimates for the job. Let me know if you need any other info.
House is 35 years old - roof was replaced in 1999 & 2000
The job was poorly done and caused me to be placed in High Risk insurance bracket as of 2002 because of recurring problems and because of refusal of roofer to fix it to Building Inspector's specification.
If I hire a roofing contractor I would have to ask them to submit to an inspection by a Housing Inspector - this will have to be done in order for me to get back into a regular Home Insurance bracket.
My roof is flat and one of the recommendations was to erect a slight slope so that the water would run off it and not create a swimming pool on the roof another recommendation was to install a scupper drain none of which was done by the roofer.
My 40y old house has a flat roof on top of the double car garage and 4 feet * 25feet on top of my living room and front entrance.
The water stay in the middle of the roof above garage and above the front entrance. The roof itself is over 10 years old. We are thinking to replace it. But I really hate to see the water siting there and very often the rooftop becomes a pool, I have to go cleaning up the leaves around the downspout.
My thoughts are:
1, Convert the flat roof to Pitched roof
Q: WHAT IS THE COST TO CONVERT TO PITCHED ROOF?
2, Convert the flat roof to terrace with railing installed
By doing so, water would have to get rid of the water first. I am thinking to install two down spouts, one inside the garage and redirect to outside, one inside the front entrance ceiling and redirect to outside.
Q: WHO CAN BUILD DECK ON THE ROOF AND INSTALL RAILING AROUND THE ROOF? HOW CAN YOU MAKE SURE ROOF IS NOT LEAKING through the holes where railings are installed
Thanks,
Jan
Scope of work: Install venting through roof for plumbing vent boot and range hood exhaust
1. install 3'' plumbing venting boot to roof - plumber to make
connection. Vent boot already provided by plumber.
2. Supply and install 6'' range hood exhaust vented through roof with
insulated sleeve - connection to be made at roof vent + and leave
connection open where range hood is located.
Our kitchen ceiling has developed a small water leak when it rains.
The water is coming in (audibly, not necessarily structurally) from the gap between the cabinets against the wall and the ceiling. We suspect that the leak is due to a faulty seal in and around one of the exhaust vents to the outside, such that when it rains the water gets in between the bricks and the vent pipe, but we cannot know for sure. The leak is a periodic drip that can be handled with towels that must be replaced every hour or so. We do not expect the leak to be due to a hole in the roof, for the house is new. But we are of course concerned and we would like this to be fixed asap, to prevent any further damage.
Our house is 2 years old, located in Mississauga, near the Tenth Line and Thomas intersections. No previous renovations have been made to the upper floors. Our house a three floor, semi-detached house. It is just past the 2 year warranty and so our original contractor is no longer liable for repairs.
We would like to know if any contractor is interested in this repair job. It will probably be more investigative than labor and materials intensive, which is why our preference is to deal with an experienced professional who has handled this type of problem before.
We have a two story mansard style roof but only one story for laundry room and family room. Leak has just appeared where two story mansard meets the one story over the family room. The orinally appeared about 20 years ago and new flashing was installed and we have not had a problem since that dat.

Looking for someone to modify the brand new Rood Trusses. They haven't been installed.
Im building my own home and my roof trusses came in a few days ago, but they are short in length ( not all of them but some).
My truss company at the moment re-engineering the trusses and will be sending the fixed design to me (stamped). They also said apparently this happens a lot and its not a big deal (!!) and this can easily be fixed on site.
I need someone who has done this before, competent with reading trusses design and available immediately.
The site is by North Service road(QEW) and Cawthra.
Pls only contact me if you are the person who will be doing the job and can start immediately.
Thanks
We have a two story, semi detached home that is in need of a new roof. The old roof is 18 years old and although the front of the roof is ok, the back was damaged by racoons and is in need of immediate repair. Water damage spots can be seen in the back room where the damage is. There is a skylight in the bathroom which will need flashing as well. I would imagine the boards will have to be replaced in the back portion of the roof as well. Online estimates would be appreciated.
Thanks
Built 1955 approx. 950 sq.ft bungalow. Streetville area. To use a good quality shingle possibly the Oakridge 30yr. Old shingles will have to be removed (only a single layer) and possibly some plywood as well. The eaves trough are also in need of repair, not draining properly. This project is probably to begin when the weather gets better or in the spring. The chimney has recently been done.
HI there, I have a home that i brought last year and the roof is leaking from one corner which joins the roof to the main wall. There are droplets of water that can be seen and i am worried of a potential leak. I am looking for a roofing specialist who can give me a very honest opinion about two things :
1. DO we need to change the roof to a new roof?
2. Do we need to just fix the patch
I would appreciate the quotes and also the details. I live in mississauga near squareone!

We are selling our 12 year old home and want to replace the existing builders roof that has some damage and missing shingles.
The exterior size of the home is 2200 sq/ft and pictures are included to give you an idea of what you're dealing with.
We're looking for rough estimates and a list of references before we arrange a time to do an on-site visit and quote.
Please include options for two different shingle types - standard life and medium life shingles.
We are NOT looking for the cheapest solution however, since we're moving we need a good deal and do not want to overpay.
roof over garage needs to be replaced (shingles curling) with new 5/8 plywood and shingles. Old roof shingles and old plywood need to be replaced with new 25 year warranty black/dark gray shingles. the garage is a two car measuring approximately 19 X 19 feet square with a 4 foot rise. The back wall of the garage is attached to house. There is one vent on the garage roof.
I am not sure what other materials are required, such as eaves starter, ardux nails, etc
Waste disposal is required, too
I have a leak coming from a air vent mounted in the ceiling on a second floor bedroom, i believe this leak to be coming from the roof down the wall of the upper floor and then into the ceiling of the second floor bedroom. The leaking happens only in spring thaw and during inttense rain. The ceiling leak is close to the overhead light in the bedroom and cause damage to the carpet and ceiling in the bedroom.
We're in the process of selling our home and the inspection report came back with some deficiencies that we need to address in order to close the deal. They are:
ROOF: The roof is missing a few shingles and another area is damaged causing water to leak into our attic. This is the original builder's roof that is roughly 12 years old. The buyers do not want to roof replaced but only to fix the issues so that they can get a few more years out of the roof.
FOUNDATION: There is a crack in the foundation beside the basement window, directly above the laundry room. Apparently this crack is exposed to the elements and is allowing moisture through. I was told by the inspector that this can be taken care of using low pressure crack injection. I need this assessed to determine the easiest way to fix this problem.
WINDOWS: I have two sliding windows that are letting in moister that will need to be replaced and another that needs the locking mechanism fixed.
I've attached parts of the home inspection report relating to each issue.
We've already taken a hit on the sale of our home and don't want to spend a lot of money fixing these issues however, we also want it done properly so that the new owners don't have to worry about it. We need everything invoiced to show the new owners the repairs have been properly addressed.
I'm looking for separate estimates from companies specializing in each area or, quotes from general contractors with qualified staff able to handle everything.
I'll be pre-screening all interested parties via their email response and the information/reviews found on their profile. Once I have narrowed my selection down to 2 or 3, I'll be inviting you to come out to our property to do a proper inspection and provide an accurate quote.
