A few HVAC related things to get done to enable my basement to be finished:
- duct work (hot/cold air ducts) to 3 areas, i.e. living, kitchen, and bedroom
- extend existing duct work in the washroom
- exhaust vent in the washroom
- re-positioned laundry needs new vent route for the dryer
Just purchased a house and the home inspection discovered that the two (full) bathroom fans on the 2nd floor are venting into the attic.
There's duct work in the attic, but they're not insulated, and not connected to a roof vent.
Can someone please let me know how much it would cost to get someone to install two proper roof vents for the bathroom, and what the cost would be to get someone into my attic (entry through walk-in closet) to install proper insulated ducts from existing bathroom fans to the roof vents?
This is a 2 storey house in Oakville.
Running a dryer vent from second floor main bedroom closet up through the attic and straight out the roof. From floor to the roof is no more than 12 feet. The access to the attic is located in the same room. There is a lot of insulation mask and gown probably preferable. The roof has only a slope of maybe 8%. Very minimal. It is a shingle roof. House was built 1973 and the roof was done only a few years back I'm told.

Photo explains everything. Louvered cap on the left is where the original fumehood was. Open cap on the right is where the new fumehood is. I'd just like this to be fixed up nice and proper. Please provide a cost estimate or if you have any questions, I can provide additional info if required.
I do not respond to generic "we'd love to work with you, please give us a call and we'll arrange a time for someone to come out to speak with you".
Approx 10 registers, and two returns, brand new install on an addition,, mech drawings call for 40 000 btu, i want and mid to high 60000 btu, a two ton ac, 13 plus seer, quiet, and maybe a tank less water heater installed, also a gas fireplace on the main floor.

I want to get someone to take a look and see if its possible to move my furnace and water heater to a different area of the basement. In the photo attached, I want to move the furnace to the area indicated (or around there, the roughed in walls can all be changed), PAST the door on the right that leads to the stairs. This would allow me to open up the basement as much as possible before finishing it.
If this is possible, I would also like the contractor to look at getting the duct work in the basement as tight as possible to the joists above.
Thanks Adam

Hi there,
We're looking to install a new HVAC system in a 36 yrs old semi-attached house, for an approximate area of 1200 sq ft.
The place doesn't have any ducting, and currently uses a baseboard as primary source of heating
We want a professional to help us navigate our options and help us to make an informed decision to find the best system that fits for our place, within the budget and that can offer a long term value.
Best,
