My townhome was completely redesigned and renovated by Kerr Construction and I could not be happier. Even with the supply chain issues, covid and Christmas break, the project was only 2 months behind. Staff was a pleasure to work with and Kerr created very detailed drawings of my renovations so I would know exactly what the finished product would look like. I was basically hands off once I agreed to the final details and did not walk back into my place until the renovations were complete. It turned out beautifully! Like all renovations there were little things that needed to be finished or fixed, but Kerr was always quick to coordinate the relevant trades to resolve any issues. I would highly recommend Kerr for any of your renovations projects as you will be in very good hands.
Thank you for the review, Sarah. We are proud to have built what you dreamed for your house. There is no higher reward than a client saying "it turned out beautifully!" That is what we work hard to achieve.
Kerr Construction worked with us to design our dream home.
Upon completion our home won an award for best design!!!
We enjoyed working with the Kerr team who were very helpful, creative and professional and we highly recommend Kerr Construction.
We appreciate the review, Sharon. Enjoy your new home to the fullest!
Extremely Expensive for the product and service you receive. This company wrote the book on how to extract the most money for doing the least amount of work! We had a fixed contract to do a straight forward job and they just kept coming for more and more and more money. The hid our budget from us for almost the entire reno and would not show us our cash allowances all while they rang up the bill. The only time we saw the project manager was when he was there to promptly collect cheques, otherwise there was almost no communication. They did not keep the renovation in line with the heritage home style. We had a lovely wood door frame that was just covered in cheap aluminum. Cut out the widow sills to jam in a mantle that obviously had not even been measured before being built. They used our heritage front porch as a dumping ground of tools, garbage and supplies and when it was damaged, they argued about repainting it. The overall design is flawed in so many areas, glass doors that open into each other and they had all the room in the world to build a regular size shower but instead decided to make one of the world's smallest showers, and then refused to move the wall to make it bigger. The job was supposed to be finished in 25 weeks but we are still waiting for a wood counter top that has cracked and we are at week 60. We had a leak in the roofing that they worked on. They found a patch of rotten wood on the outside of my deck and didn't say anything, just painted over it, compromising the integrity of the deck as water was then getting in. Do not use and if you do take a lawyer and designer to look over the contracts and designs.
Design work was instituted in early October, with excellent suggestions and well chosen material. Actual construction began shortly after and essentially required the gutting of baths, kitchen, flooring, fireplace , etc.- essentially a re- build , not a cosmetic reno. Dave, Derek and Shawn and the Kerr team did everything possible to allow me to move for Christmas, and they were successful. Whatever glitch arose was dealt with promptly and efficiently. .The result has been much admired by friends and family, and I feel as much "at home" as I did in my former home of fifty years.
Our home renovation project with Kerr Construction involved completely updating and modernizing a mid-1930's bungalow while retaining its character and charm. It was a true team effort, with my husband and I working with our "team" from Kerr Construction - Eric Linzmeier, Dave Sillmans and Mark Austin as well as Anja Henche (independent design consultant.)
Eric and Dave guided us through the early stages and stresses of designers, permits and cost estimates and continued to meet with us weekly through the year-long, active construction phase. At these meetings, we discussed week-by-week progress and problems which allowed us to make timely decisions based on collaborative solutions.
Mark Austin came on as project supervisor after the project was several months underway. He quickly grasped the scope of the renovation and the inherent challenges of renovating an older home. An able carpenter and technology-savvy, Mark showed extensive knowledge of construction and available products and had good contacts with supporting independent tradesmen. He fit in well with our team approach and was a major contributor to weekly onsite meetings. He also showed admirable patience working with and mentoring his junior crew.
As our design consultant, Anja Henche brought her considerable expertise and modernist sensibility to the completion of the project. We worked well together finalizing new kitchen and bathroom layouts and finding the right balance between traditional and modern in products and finishes.
The Kerr team - Eric, Dave, Mark and Anja - were all unfailingly polite and professional throughout. They brought their considerable experience in the industry to the successful realization of our renovation project. Now 3 1/2 years after moving back in, we can attest that our house is a continuing pleasure to live in.
Very happy with the result. The Kerr crew was very responsive and provided great advice. This was our first major home project and they provided expert suggestions from start to finish. Job was completed on time and on budget, the quality was top notch. We love our new kitchen and bathroom.
We have no hesitation in recommending Kerr in any renovation, big or small.
Kerr Construction has provided excellent advice, expertise, workmanship to our family over three years and two homes. We are always impressed with their professionalism, kindness and genuine hard work. The team of contractors and staff at Kerr have earned our trust and loyalty.
Kerr's designers did an great job discussing the potential new configurations with us before drawing up the plans. Very few revisions were required, and the layout turned out perfectly. The building crew foreman did an excellent job keeping on the schedule, keeping us aware of any difficulties or changes, and also ensured that we got high quality workmanship.
Mark Austin was a exemplary contractor, and carpenter, and designer - professional in all his dealings with us during this long and complicated roof repair.
He was always courteous, on time, and kept us well informed as to the progress of the work.
We would recommend his work and look forward to working with him in the future on new projects.
Derek and Nisha provided great guidance through the design process, offering experience-based recommendations on our bathroom and basement renovation. We had a lot of difficulty selecting an accent tile, and Nisha found a great sample that became the foundation for the colour scheme of our two bathrooms.
Steve worked in our home for 3 months, and was always respectful of our family needs as we lived through the project. His attention to detail on fine woodwork, such as our new banister, show he is a craftsman. We had a couple of quality issues from a sub-trade and he worked hard to make sure our, and his, standards were met for the project.
We considered several contractors for our project, and went with Kerr based on their experience, comprehensive fixed-price contract, and team interaction.
We have already recommended them to friends and neighbours.
