Hello all, built a new home. Just completed. House is off a semi busy street.
80% of exterior is stucco.
Stucco is Durock brand. Foam and stucco total thickness is about 2 inches.
I hear ALOT of street noise. I can hear my neighbor's conversation when they are outside.
I dont have a fence yet or any trees.
Was looking into Thin Brick. I cant install regular brick as dont have the foundation ledge to support regular size (like 3.5inch or whatever) bricks.
My question is this. How to best install thin brick (they are typically 1/2 inch thick) so that it provides the best sound insulation? Keeping in mind I would want to rip out all the stucco.
Someone told me to do wood batten/furring, then install fibrecement boards, then mortar, then the thin bricks, then grout them. The furring strips to provide a 1 inch air cavity to help dissapate noise and also for water drainage etc.
I cant seem to find much on thin brick in Ontario. Would like to hear from Masonary pros!
Thnx so much
If you use an Eifs stucco system, with brick veneer bonded to the base coat ,
