I bought my Bongalow on August 2008 it was built in the late 70s it is a semi detached home. It seems the last owners had done allot of upgrades to the upstairs of the hme but down stairs is a mess. Since it started to rain and the snow has fallen I have noticed in my basement in one of the rooms along the sides my carpet is always soaked
I can not tell where the leak is coming from but I am sure it is coming from in the wall...The fireplace is old and does not work, the bathroom floor and the sink has to be repaired...........I need someone to help me repair my place so I can feel like my home...The basement is my place I like to go to where I go to relax but it is awful to look at. Please help me
We were one of the victims of the flood in the Mississauga area. We need to have our basement restored. I'm still waiting for an estimate from my insurance company. We have gutted the basement ourselves down to framing and concrete floor. We have approximately 900 sf that requires installation of insulation, drywall (walls and ceilings). As well as removal of existing flourescent light fixtures and installation of pot lights and possible wall sconces. We would also need 900 sf of laminate flooring.
Please see below the description of the project:
1) Build a room over 2 cars garage.
2) Finish basement (50% of the drywall work has been done) and reno bathroom
3) Renovate master bath and main bath.
4) Freshly paint the whole house
5) Install crown molding
6) Remove stucco
7) Stain hardwood floors and stairs with new colour and;
8) Install some new light fixtures
For a finished basement, the following is required to be built:
Separate entrance with the door from the backyard.
Expand three basement windows. Current windows are very small.
A three piece wash room with plumbing and electrical work in the basement
A laundry room with plumbing and electrical work in the basement.
Install an electric cooker in the kitchen.
An internal wall with a door to separate the kitchen from the hall.
We live in a split-level townhouse condo. The 'basement', such as it is (roughly 230 Sq. ft.), was finished with a 2-piece powder room and a bedroom in the 70s, with mediocre craftsmanship at best.
A flood late last fall caused us to rip-out the 'bedroom.' We would like to renovate the basement to a 3-piece bathroom with a shower and a proper bedroom.
We want very basic amenities and the vanity, light and toilet can be re-used in the bathroom, the shower can be a standard store bought item... We are looking for dry walled ceilings and (3) pot lights in the bedroom; laminate flooring in the bedroom and tile in the bathroom; MDF trim and quarter rounds; 7 electrical outlets and 2 standard 6 panel doors.
I've laid-out a sketch of what I see as the appropriate layout and am happy to forward via email. Bedroom would be 13'-10" x 12'-0", bathroom 5'-8" x 12'-0" with the balance being a small landing
At this point I only need online estimates to see what the ballpark is for my budget. I am relatively handy and can certainly handle any demo required to the existing basement to give you the clean slate you need. I can also take on some of the tasks (framing, paint, and floor) to keep the budget within our limitations.
Cheers,
Charles

Basement is unfinished. There is a requirement to build two bedrooms, a office area, a exercise room, a small kitchen and 3 pc washroom downstairs. The rooms need to properly designed and constructed with extra attention to little details.
I have wood burning fireplace in my living room, faced with marble slabs (some cracks and looks dated) from floor to ceiling, approx 8 feet high and 5 feet wide. I'd like to replace the marble, replace the fireplace doors and install a flat screen tv above the fireplace. this might require extending the current 4 inch mantel.
Based on a honest and fair quote, I would check your references and if positive, I would like to begin the project immediately.
Nearest intersection is Dixie/Rathburn and I am the home owner.
