The 2 small projects above is a part of larger home renovation project. Therefore, there are more work for qualify person/Company available.
We plan a conversion of a single family home into 3 or 4 levels, each level would feature 4 studios of about 250 SF, in Toronto.
At this point we check overall possibility, if you manufacture such modular homes, preliminary budget, and timelines. The property is not bought yet, we are in a planning stage, but are very eager to proceed.
Hello,
To create open concept on my older home, I want to move the stairs that run through out the house (main floor, basement, to upstairs) to the side. I want the stairs to be up to code, and tied in properly to the joist.
Please tell me how much to demolish/remove and create new finshed stairs to the side of home.
Thank you.
We are the home owners and would like to move our interior stairs on the main floor that currently cut the living room and dining room in half.
We would like to use the existing door for the powder room (which also between the dining room and living room but on the wall behind the stairs leading to the second floor - we are fine with losing it) as the entrance to the new basement stairs which would be moved to run behind the stairs to the second floor. This will open the main floor up.
We have been told by a contractor that we can likely use and move the existing stairs.
There are walls about 3/4 feet on either side of the existing stairs that would need to be removed - no load bearing walls involved.
Cost estimate?
We will be moving into a newly purchased home in Toronto and would like to do some work prior to moving in:
- lay down new laminate flooring in three bedrooms and hallway 945 sq ft.
- removal of carpet in master and hallway, removal of existing laminate in two bedrooms
- paint most rooms in house
- lay new tile in basement and bathroom, possibly heated floor
- laundry room set up
- install bathroom vanity
later on we will be redoing the kitchen and bathroom
We just bought older house, built in 1950-ties, and have until June 1st to renovate and movie in. We would like to destroy some of the walls completely, and some other walls, we would need to move.
To create an open concept of living dining and kitchen area, our plan is to knock down the two corner walls of the kitchen, but our suspicion is that that wall might need to have beam installed to provide enough support after the walls are gone. We need a specialist to see what needs to be done and how much is the cost.
In the other area of the house, our plan is to expand the bathroom taking out of one of the bedrooms on one side and some smaller space of the hallway. Again, professional opinion on moving those walls is needed.
There are some other minor wall moving activities in the hallways, and in the next year or two, more projects in the basement, in case of a need for a professional ,would prefer to maintain contact with the same person-team if satisfied.
House is Sheppard/Yonge area and we would like to see contractor/s on site for consultation on possible and not possible plans, expect quote/s after that and go from there.
Thank you.
We have a cement porch with steps and roof.
We would like to convert it to a mud room.
Area is around 10ft by 4 ft. We would like the exterior to be composite material. Interior to be insulated, it will also need a second door two windows, one on each side. Only 1 power connection will be required.
My estimate is budgeted, don't want to go crazy ... It's a mud room :)

The house is about 50 yrs. old. It is a traditional 3 bedroom bungalow. A music studio was put into the basement, and a washroom. So basement is already 50% renovated
Make single car garage into douible car garage. The new double car garage will be 5 feet in front of existing house. Existing garage becomes new master bedroom with master ensuite. Put the entrance to house in the front instead of existing side entrance. Put new porch on front of house. Create doorway from new double garage into main house. Create open concept inside. Knock out existing walls inside home. Move kitchen to back of house. House has existing oak hardwood floors. Refinish and reuse if possible, if not then put in either new hardwood floor, or something similar. Redo existing washroom on main floor and downstairs. Basement has music studio that cannot be touched in any way during renovations. Create new staircase from main floor to basement level. Replace doors, and windows. Roof has to be replaced.
I have had architect's drawings done, and submitted to the city, and have already received city approval for the variance that was required to do this project.
Hi,
I need a rough estimate for cost of building approx 10 custom booths of different sizes for a lounge set up.
The size of the unit is approx 34ft by 70ft. I just need an estimate as I am unavailable at the moment for site visits and want to see if the upgrades are affordable for this year.
I also need to know how much it would cost to build a small vistibule of drywall and wood studs at the main entrance. Just rough costs.
Thank you
A structural brick wall to be replaced with a structure support using 10' 3" LVLs (provided) as proposed in an engineering drawing to be followed.
The LVLs are to be installed below the base plate of the attic wall and below several layers of brick to be removed so a mason is needed.
Once LVLs are installed, a 9' span of brick wall is to be cut and demolished for each floor below.
I am the owner/renovator.
Need a basement wall cut open for a walkout also needs to be dug out and a retaining wall and steps put in. The basement walls are old stone walls house is around Bloor and Bathurst area.
