I have a stand up shower in my small basement bathroom that leaks water every time someone showers and it's causing some drywall damage and mould is building up on the baseboards. I want to remove the cheap stand up shower unit which has nylon walls, lay some ceramic tiles on the wall then put in a new stand up shower unit.
I'd like it to be done over a weekend and I can give a helping hand. Please call if you have any questions.
We need a complete redesign of our bathrooms. The current bathrooms are a retro fit to the building. The building was built 1912 and the bathrooms were put in during a renovation, maybe in the 1960's (?) For our current business there are not enough stalls and we need a complete redesign and expansion of the bathrooms. The expansion will have to take the form of an additional floor above the current bathrooms.
Hello
This is actually a small bathroom that I would love to turn into a steam room with a ofuro. Due to it being in the basement I don’t think we could fit the bath down to the area so I’m thinking of a tiled Japanese bath (ofuro) Also the whole bathroom I want it to be a steam room as well. The dimensions of the room is approx
I am actually not working and am keen on potential reducing the cost by doing some of the work myself. What I am looking for is someone who has tiled bath tubs and steam saunas.
Height -74 in
Width - 39 1/4 in
Length 130 3/4in
Shower room needs wall to be changed from a step to flush. Backerboard needs to be removed. Studs turned sideways and reframing behind toilet needs redoing. Then new backerboard and/or drywall needs installing and mudding and taping. Prepping for marble to be installed.
Basically need drywaller/plasterer with some small carpentry skills.
Please quote each step of the project separately:
1. Remove bathtub, wall tiles (200 sq. ft) and floor (72 sq. ft), mirrors (33 sq. ft) and (if damaged) cement boards of the shower enclosure). Dispose of all garbage.
2. Install new shower membrane and drain
3. Rough-in new shower faucet (rain head and hose, no spout)
4. Install new tiles on room floor (72 sq. ft) and shower walls and floor ( 100 sq. ft)
Materials will be selected and purchased by the client.
The removal and installation of the toilet and the vanity is not included in the project.
The bathroom is located in a condo. SO, for the plubming steps, I need a contractor who has proper certificates and insurance for conducting plumbing work.
The location is at the Toronto Harbourfront, the closest intersection is Spadina and Lakeshore West. The building has parking spots for contractors, and noisy work is allowed to be performed Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.
In terms of timing, I am not in a rush to start, but have no reason to delay it either. When I find the right contractor, I'd be ready to start the project. I realize that the renovation will take several days. There is another bathroom in the apartment, which can be used during the renovation.
This ad has enough information (floor plan and photos) to assess an approximate price. And later on, we can look into small details and adjust the price accordingly. So, if you are interested, please give me a rough quote first. Please do not send me responses without a quote, asking to call you or arrange a visit. I will continue only with serious contractors who are able to review the project and give me their preliminary quotes upfront.
Thank you!
We already have replacement wall-hung cabinetry (polymer resin), faucets, lights and mirrors. We will have already removed these items prior to reno. We believe that we will need the following:
- possible re-enforcement of inside wall (unsure if existing studs are ok) behind vanity location as required to provide sufficient support for wall-hung vanity cabinet
- We may require electrical work to move existing wall mounted light fixtures location to new location so that it's centered above vanity sink - is an inspector required for this after work is done to the electrical?
- we would require a plumber to move existing vanity drain and water line location to new location centered below vanity as required.
- there may possibly be some drywalling behind the vanities, depending if there is any damage, behind the toilet (does not have to be removed as part of the work). Taping, plastering sanding and priming would be required.
- tiles beneath the existing cabinet do not have grout and grouting would be required. We will supply sanded grout.
- Install wall-hung vanity cabinet and countertop (2 pieces)
- Drill hole in polymer resin countertop for vanity faucet and install faucet
We will paint the wall behind the cabinet.
The process is the same for both bathrooms one is slightly larger and has two sinks and two faucets. Pictures will be provided with measures if required.

The wall behind the tile on my bathroom is rotting and I need it replaced. I want the existing tile surround removed and cement board and new 4x4 tile to be installed. The tub size is 21x60 and the height of the tile above the tube is about 5.5 feet.
I will supply all materials and just need someone to supply the labour.
The master bath in our condo unit contains a soaker tub but we would prefer to replace it with a walk-in shower. We hope this will make the bathroom a little less cramped and also allow for putting in a towel rack next to the shower. We are on the third floor of the building, which was put up in the late 70s.

My wife and I just purchased an old Rowhouse that had been renovated for resale. They installed several new showers (3) - one in the master, one in the common bathroom on the 2nd floor and one in the basement.
I've come to the realization that the installation was completely substandard (it appears that they did not use waterproofing behind the tile) and I don't want to take the risk that they will deteriorate over time. We are keeping our use of the showers to the one in the basement and we aren't using the ones on the upper floor.
I am looking for contractors to quote on removing the existing tile on down as far as needed (a complete gut if needed) to rebuild them properly. I realize the cost is not trivial here... but we need showers.
For the master I wanted to explore putting in a freestanding tub with a shower pole/curtain rod instead of the existing shower.
If you are interested in taking on this work please contact me back and I can send over some photos of the showers and we can discuss what you need to provide an estimate.

Please advise on your approximate price range - materials and labour separately.
Previous owner put in a wall and converted old tub into kitchen pantry for the kitchen that's on the other side. I would like to remove the wall and pantry and convert back to a shower for the washroom.
The size would be 30"x60" and I would like to use the Schluter Shower System. I would also like:
- tiles on all sides including ceiling
- pot light
- niche
- debating about a bench (please let me know the price of bench separately)
- exhaust fan (currently does not have one)
I had a new shower base for me built 2 years ago and it is leaking. I want to replace it with an acrylic shower base (see attached). Water is seeping out at the point where the outside of the shower curb meets the tile on the floor (around the area on the floor where the shower glass ends). My sub-floor is concrete. I want to keep everything else in tact, just replace the shower base.
We need a sub-contractor to install a shower door kit on a bathtub. Deadline - this project needs to be done by July 5th.
