I recently took maintenance offer (beginning July 2022) for AC and furnace where I was given 6 months free and then 6 months chargeable. The staff came for maintenance on July 7th for AC (he told everything is perfect) and since then the fan which is outside the house started creating problems. It is running for 5 seconds then stops and then repeats the same thing again.
I waited for few days and when I called Enercare customer service I was told to pay service charge of $99+ tax for someone to come and check. Why should I pay for it? The problem started after Enercare staff came for maintenance and spoiled the machine. And now we have to suffer in heat in this weather.
This contract seems to be complete scam. We trusted Enercare, they gave 6 months free and within 20 days of taking the contract, they are charging service fee for damage done from their staff.
Is this really justified???
Absolutely the WORST experience(s) we've ever had.
We inherited a rental agreement on a gas water heater in a house we purchased - the water heater is from 2010. It started a couple of months ago where the pilot light went out and we had no hot water - I called Enercare and the best they could do is have someone come out 2 days later and it did not seem to matter we had 2 children in the house. When the service person showed up the pilot had gone out due to "maximum number of re-ignition attempts reached" so he turned the power off to the vent motor which I guess "reset" the ignition system and it re-lit itself - he did take it apart and clean it just as a maintenance item.
Fast forward 2 months and I discovered the same water heater leaking in our basement and the pilot is of course out again. It was 10:30PM and so I immediately contacted their service number and was told the earliest someone could come was Saturday between 3 and 7 (this was Thursday night). They advised I would have to simply deal with the leak for 2 days - I decided to turn the water supply to the heater off so that it at least doesn't get worst and flood our basement. I assume there is something in the system where if there is no hot water pressure our showers do not work - so... no showers for us.
I explained that 2 days to replace a leaking water heater is unacceptable and so my appointment was escalated and I was told I could tall back Friday morning to speak with someone. I called back this morning (Friday) and was not able to speak with someone regarding my escalation but instead was once again told there are no appointments until Saturday evening (why does their website say a benefit of renting from them is same day priority appointments if you call before 5pm??). We're not coming up on almost 4 hours having passed and no call back.
A couple of positives:
1. I verified since our water heater is 10 years old our contract is basically done and we have no obligation to Enercare.
2. I found these reviews about their service and basically see everyone has the same experience we have had.
3. We are getting a water heater from a different company that can get here sooner than Enercare.
I would absolutely 100% recommend using ANY other company because quite honestly I can't see how anyone could provide worse service than Enercare.
Called to have a technician come out, was giving a window between 2-6 on Friday, so I stayed home from work. Technician was supposed to call but didn't and showed up around 4. Looked at the AC and said he would have to schedule another appointment to do a leak tes. Informed me that next appointment was Sunday 8-12, my wife called and it turned out it was actually for Saturday. We instructed that the technician call this time before coming. When I opened my door at 9am I saw a piece of paper saying that a tech was there at 8:43 which I never received a call or heard a knock at my door. I have 3 dogs which would have went nuts if someone knocked. I called customer service and they said it was a miscommunication but the next appointment is Monday. It's 80 degrees in my house and my 2 young kids and 3 dogs now have to suffer because of a miscommunication between enercare and their subcontractors. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Would not recommend.
I have paid Enercare $17-$20/month for years for the Plumbing Protection Plan. The hose bib was leaking inside my house so they can to check the leak but it took one week to get an appointment. I was assured this was a covered service. The plumber arrived and opened the wall. Assured me it was a covered service but wouldn't do the repair until we had an electrician in to move some ground wire attached to the pipe. I was charged a $99 diagnostic fee which was covered under my plan. I spent $80 on an electrician to do so. Tried to book another Enercare plumber to finish the job and the earliest appointment was a week away again. I had to escalate and speak to several people to finally get an appointment 4 days away. Like pulling teeth! The plumber came, did the repair but left the hose bib sticking out several inches from the wall with no bracket for me to mount it and no reinforcement. I was charged $99 diagnostic (again), $179 (labour) which was covered and another $271 (labour) for what I don't know, not covered under the plan. He was at the house for 45 minutes max and I have a LOT of work to do to properly secure the pipe and fill in the gaping hole in my brick wall. After tax I paid $300 out of pocket, plus $100 for supplies to finish their shoddy work, plus $80 for an electrician, and I had to wait a week and a half to complete work that would have taken a regular plumber an hour. Absolutely atrocious customer service. When I escalated they first said the $300 was due to freezing which wasn't covered. Then they said it was because they installed a frost free pipe. I never asked for nor authorized such a pipe. Absolutely no resolution so I'm posting a review and cancelling this Protection Plan (but locked into the contract for a year)! Beware, they are scam artists and do shoddy work, don't let them sell you on their plans, you'll never get the proper service you'd expect.
Basement flooded called them over and over and over again they keep on saying someone is on their way.
Its been 24hrs still nothing.
Why pay for a maintenance contract if they do not provide an adequate service.
Your insurance wont help you due to it being a rental.
Think twice before signing.
Does not resolve issues !! We are being bounced around like a hot ball of trouble. Inconsistency with all the answers I'm provided!! Had 4 leaks and left with 3 leaks still, technician who left yesterday said called contractor to repair , but when I called back today there was no note or record of escalating the issue and the case was already closed!!!!!!! We are left with severe leak in the basement (emptying bucket 3 times per night) and no one is coming. The issue was only logged and agent said "It will take 24-48h for issue to be escalated and someone to contact you", whereas my case was never ever even close to being resolved !!!!!! Please have someone from management contact me at 416-856-2232. This is a furious customer. I will never ever ever recommend you guys to anyone I know. In fact I will go out of my way to tell everyone I know what I have to go through. And this is not the first time. Previously similar experience with furnace last year!!!!
Couple of days ago had water heater replaced:
1 - Service Technician arrived 45 minutes earlier (planned 4 hr. windows)
2. The technician was in rush and was not careful as slammed the laundry room door. Had to warn him two/three times NOT to slam the door close slowly.
3. After two days, there seems to some kind of smell in water
4. Contacted the service center nd wanted to tell them about my experience with technical but seems it was not important to them just schedule another visit
5. Not even sure if my complaint went any where as there was no follow up from Enercare after the service call
I can go on and on but....
I signed up for annual Heating Protection with Maintenance Enercare plan ($23.99 a month) and they tried to scam me: one day I called the specialist to fix my furnace and he told me that my system is too old and too dangerous and I have to replace it for $10.000 or rent it from them for $200 monthly and he turned it off. I called another specialist who said it is a * and I have a very good system and nothing is wrong with this.
Today I tried to discontinue my plan with them and it seems to me they trying to trick me by putting on hold forever, transferring to another departments and so on!
