Do not use this company! I paid $1400 to have my 3-year old Bosch dishwasher repaired and it is still not fixed. I finally had a certified Bosch technician come to assess the situation and they found that The A Team Appliance Repair had attempted to glue together a part and tie it together with string! When I spoke to The A Team about this finding, they hung up on me. I wish I had checked this site first, before using them, as this is obviously a dirty business. Not sure how these people sleep at night.
This is a straight up scam. All the other negative reviews are completely accurate.
Our oven wasn't working. My wife found A Team Appliance Repair online, called them and booked a repairman to come out. It was $80 for the worker to come out and tell us what was wrong - and they'd waive the fee if they ended up doing the work. Fair, we thought.
The serviceman came out and in about 4 minutes said it was a repair he could do right there. However, it would cost $299+tax ($344), plus additional cost if he needed to get a new part (and that's important because he said he could probably fix it as-is). We asked how much new parts could cost and he said he couldn't say. Then we pressed him and he said maybe one or two hundred dollars at the most, but that was only if we needed it. So we signed the paper to agree to him fixing it.
20 minutes later he hands us a bill saying we need a $600+ dollar part plus the $344. Over $950+ to repair a $900 8 year old stove. So far, the time elapsed was 25 minutes. He pushed hard for us to fix it despite us telling him no several times.
So the bill was $344 for 25 minutes of work, just to diagnose the problem, not to fix it as he said. I called and complained, speaking to a woman who speaks off some script, pretends to go talk to a manager then proceeds to tell us that there's nothing they can do because we signed a contract. By the way, she said the $80 was just for the technician to drive to our house. Not to do any work. Which was not what she said on the phone to my wife.
We'll be fine, but I can't imagine all the poor and elderly people that get taken advantage of by these people. Wish we had done our research before.
You definitely want to stay away from this company.
We called for the repair of the washer, they quoted labor for $280 to visit & repair and after tech checked requested to buy apart costing $348.76 plus HST, that point we asked if we replaced that is it going to work at least 2,3 years, tech sail yes so, we paid & installed the part. After installing not worked, then he said we have to change another two parts costing $ 683.26 that point we asked what is the guarantee after, tech is not sure so, we didn't do it but still at the same stage before. Please do not hire these guys they are not Tech & do not know the work.....cheaters/theft. I called their manager everyday after 3 days one lady/manager answered the call, she was even more rude & doesn't know how to deal with customers. I never ever recommend these people at all.
This is their phone # 416-848-7578 & 905-233-0993.
I won't give even 0 rating.
Had a guy come out to fix washer. Found issue ordered part and payment in full given for the mother board and for two men for 2 hours of labour. Part had been back ordered two weeks prior with no idea of when it would be in. That was Nov 22/23. January 7th they came to install board but in the process pulled the dryer out from the wall (machines are stacked) they disconnected the vent and fried something else creating a small gas leak. Enbridge had to come out fix leak. This company after ridiculously trying to tape and reconnect the vent (simple task) using wrong kind of tape and not sealing it now left us without a dryer and washing machine. Trying to speak with anyone with any kind of authority or problem solving skills at what I assume is a call centre is absolutely impossible. They took my $1100 knowing the part was back ordered refused to refund me I waited almost two months for the part only for the two useless repair men accidentally disconnected the dryer vent attempted to reconnect and fix it only to leave us with a gas leak????? OMG this company is a nightmare.
**Run from them**
This is a scam company. They ripped me off for $ 1,500.00.
I had to put a deposit for a part for my refrigerator, problem is the part is no longer available and this company won't refund my money. I contacted Whirlpool who advised the part is no longer made. This after waiting 2 months for The A team and not hearing anything. After repeatedly asking for a refund they finally told me no refund is coming and " do what you have to do".
Small claims court is my only option I think.
My recent encounter with this appliance company was nothing short of a nightmare. The technicians they dispatched to address issues with my oven demonstrated a level of unprofessionalism that I never thought possible.
As they attempted to repair my oven, they carelessly threw screws onto the floor, they did not have a proper container to store them. There was at least 30 screws in 4 different locations in the kitchen by the time they left. They were trying to take the top of the oven of to get the heating element (it's an electric oven), but they looked like they had no idea how to do so. They spent the majority of their time trying to find where these screws are, as if it's their first time doing it. Then, I,saw them messing up the rubber that prevents the water from seeping to the circuit. That can't be fixed easily, and that's when I decided to tell them if they know what they're doing and if they have a certificate. One of them blatantly told me "who are you to give you my certificate", what kind of unprofessionalism is this? That's when I told them to leave, and they left my oven unfixed, open, with the screws all over the floor, and ruined the rubber. Worst experience with a technician ever see
The cost of replacement parts and labour to repair a refrigerator was 90% of purchasing a new similar model. Once I realized this and tried to cancel the following work day just after the service visit, they tried to haggle me into accepting a 20% discount for which I was still not interested. As per the law I'm entitled to cancel the repair within 10 days but I was unable to get refunded for most of the upfront cost. No labour had been yet put into the repair, the serviceman had only made an estimate so the labour was yet to happen in the future but I was forced to pay that upfront. Given that according to their policy, labour can't be refunded I lost all money related to labour costs. Then there was restocking fees for parts. In the end I lost half of the total cost of the estimated repair. Wether it's industry standard or not I don't know but it's definitely immoral to charge for work that hasn't been done. Avoid paying anything upfront, you can't get your money back.
Took 1100.00 to repair my bosch appliance and told me it will be done within 5 to 7 business days when the parts get in. Took a month to get the so called parts and then they came over and took my appliance with them and told me they have to do the repair at the at the shop and will be returned within one to two days. Now two and half months later brought the appliance back. I do not use it much or check it. I went away for Christmas for two weeks came back tries to use the appliance to find its not even turning on.
Do Not Use This Company-They Are Criminals!!!!
Typical first visit like many others-quoted $80 for visit, but then needed another $240.00 to "diagnose" whether my under counter bar fridge had a problem with the main board or compressor (only wanted cash or debit.) He said it was the compressor and I had to pay for them to order a new one. Since it was a larger amount, I put it on my visa and he said it would be fixed in 5 days. Two weeks later got a call saying someone would be out to fix it. Another guy showed up at my door and had no idea what was going on. He looked at the fridge and said it was a board problem, not the compressor. Next call was the office wanting to take the whole fridge into their "lab" for repairs-I declined and said the repairs can be performed on site. Another guy showed up to pick up the board (this is 45 days after the initial visit.) We called 9 days later looking for an update and they said they have not looked at it yet. We asked that the service be cancelled and wanted a refund. They said that there would be a bunch of extra fees and hung up. Have not heard from them since. I have contested the charge for the part with visa. Purchasing a new identical fridge would have cost me less money. I very much regret not reading these reviews prior to contacting them. They are absolute thieves.
These people are absolute professional money takers. Google the various CTV and other news articles on these guys. They have no intention of actually fixing your appliances and in most cases will actually damage it to try and get more money out of you. They come in same day with a $80 day charge and then demand $280 to even look at your machine. after doing their "fake diagnostic" they will charge you $500 for some bogus part, come back to "fix it" and then your machine will be in worse shape than before. When you call back they will just give you the run around until you give up. They spend 10s of thousands on advertising. It's honestly sickening with all the negative reviews and media exposure they are still somehow able to operate.
