Installing a brand new bathroom in the basement of my personal residence.
-Plumbing and electrical is roughed in, walls are framed- No drywall or cement board in place.
-Scope of work:
i) Construct a shower base (preferably without curb) and tile walls, approx. 6ft (L) x 4.5ft (W) x 7ft (H). Two niches desired.
ii) Install bathroom floor tile approx. 50 sqft.
-Open to design collaboration and ideas.
-Supply of material by contractor preferred but not hard requirement.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Westmount area. Downstairs bathroom - an old shower (single) enclosure needs to be replaced - would require removing the old one, and replacing it with a new one - cutting out old wall board - walls and ceiling. That bathroom needs new floor, baseboards and corner trim. If you are able to recommend the type of shower enclosure and place to purchase it that would be helpful.
I don t think the bathroom has been worked on other than paint and flooring since the 80's. Room Dimensions, roughly 9' 7" by 5' 2"/ with a height of 6' 11.5". The room has a generic shower/bathtub with a toilet / vanity / sink/cabinet. I have removed the old linoleum down to the concrete floor, only a bit of glue residue remains. The tub has tile about 4 feet up from the top of the tub than drywall to the ceiling. I would like to replace the tile with either new tile or tub surround, something to ensure no water leakage. I believe the bath tub can stay as its still in good shape. Would also like to lay down new tile flooring. One of the walls is covered with mirrored tiles but I imagine there will be some minor drywall repair and some new paint. The cabinet/sink should probably be replaced to something more modern. Toilet is brand new along with the mirror vanity.
The condo is vacant at this time so would like to get the job started as soon as possible. Preferred contact is by email. Open to idea's and suggestions.
Want to re-do the en-suite bathroom.
1) New vanity and sink
2) New toilet
3) New tiles
4) Need to bring the shower pipe up. Right now the shower head is too low.
5) New shower door, preferably bifold (Similar in style to: click here orclick here New light fixture
7) Replace a portion of the shower wall against the vanity with glass to let light into the shower (See example images)
8) Replace the accordion door in the entrance with an actual door
9) Add a plug for a bidet behind the toilet (optional)
The bathroom is about 1.70m x 2m
I have included some photos of similar (renovated) bathrooms from other condos in this building that I liked.
Hello,
I am inquiring about renovations on a house I am to purchase this month. An estimate for mortgage plus additions would be much appreciated. The renovations are converting a bedroom into an ensuite/walkin closet. In addition minor finishing like carpet replacement in one bedroom and an addition of a closet. Many contractors are booked till may. Id like to know availability this week for an estimate if possible and timeline for renovations to begin.
Thank you,
Kirk
2nd floor ensuite. approx. 5'x12'. Sinks will be staying as is and only drywall on what I have already taken down. Has been mostly gutted, insulated, and vapor barriered. I already have purchased shower pan and glass doors that I want installed. Looking to spend $4000-$9000
I would need:
- the existing plumbing modified to 2" and tied into existing lines.
- installation of framing to accomodate shower doors.
- installation of the shower including hardware.(would like a small corner bench in shower)
- install new shut off valves as required.
- floors to be tiled w/4" tile baseboard.(may need thicker subfloor)
- shower walls and bench to be tiled.
- installation of toilet after tiling.
I may need a few things that I don't know about but this is a rough estimate of the work
4.5' x 5' ensuite requires vanity removal and new one installed including plumbing.
Lino flooring requires removal and ceramic tiles installed.
Walls require some repair and painting.
Toilet requires removal and installation of a new one.
Light fixture requires removal and new one installed.
Baseboard to be installed.
Grout, tiles, paint, light fixture, vanity, vanity top, faucet, toilet & baseboard purchased and ready to go.
Looking to have complete remodel of our ensuite 4 piece bathroom. Would like tub/shower removed and replaced with walk-in tiled shower (approx 8'x 5'). Remove and replace toilet vanity, mirror, lighting, paint and floor. We may pre-purchase the supplies and would need installation only.
I hv a washer/dryer in my bathroom on main floor along with wash basin and toilet seat, I wanna move the washer/dryer in the basement right below and put in a glass shower along with closet in the bathroom to make it full washroom.

Basement bathroom renovation (originally built 1963):
Job consistst of removal of existing tile for shower as well as existing drywall within the bathroom. Toilet, sink and tile will need upgrading. The existing door will be replaced with a sliding door (if room is available). If possible I would like a second shower head in the shower. Electrical consists of one overhead light and should not pose any issues. My main concerns are the shower drain, subfloor and small area which is the main reason why I require a professional.
Please call my work phone between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday to schedule an appointment to quote.
Hi there,
I am looking for some help with the initial stages of a bathroom and family room area reno project. Here are the details:
1. bathroom (6’7 x 8’2): gut which includes removal and take away of
• flooring down to plywood
• all fixtures, bathtub, sink and vanity, mirror, tile
• drywall on walls down to studs (leave ceiling)
2. downstairs family room (20’2 x 13’) and area: gut includes
• drywall on ceiling and two exterior walls down to studs
• drywall surrounding back door down to studs (5'8" wall)
• flooring down to plywood in hallway (roughly 12' x 4' area)
Please provide a quote as well as when you could start the gut. Thanks!
Basement is nearly finished minus the bathroom and finishing touches such as baseboards, doors and light fixtures. The bathroom has blue board up but nothing else. We are looking for someone to finish the bathroom and finishing touches on our basement. Our house is eight years old.
Bathroom:
Blue board is up but need the rest finished. We have already purchased a stand up shower but have not yet picked out a vanity/sink, toilet or lino.
Basement finishing touches:
Need 4 doors installed (includes bathroom door), baseboards installed and light fixtures installed. Paint and carpeting done.
I've removed a 60"x32" tub and had a plumber install a tub-replacement shower base (by MAAX), and rework the faucet to remove the tub faucet. I've taken down all the drywall around the shower and installed WonderBoard (and a MAAX in-wall cupboard for soap/shampoo).
The work to be done is as follows:
- Tape/seal wonderboard
- Tile Installation for:
- Shower/faucent wall - 8' x 32"
- Long wall - 8' x 60"
- back wall 8' x 36"
-Installation of glass sliding doors on the shower base
-Installation of an adjustable shower bar
(Note: I have insured adequate support in the wall for the door & shower bar installation - including pictures and measurements.)
I have not yet purchased tiles or the shower door in case I find a company/individual that can include that in the estimate. If you don't provide that service - no problem, I'll purchase them separately.
We need someone to replace the subfloor, install tile or LVT on the bathroom floor and put a new toilet on. Tiles/LVT are provided. Paint walls before installing toilet.
Estimate needed with cost breakdown. Include the cost of replacing the tiles in the tub which is an option, not a requirement. The new floor and toilet installation is most important.
Lighting will no longer come from 2 lights on a fixture but a large mirror with led backlighting.
I have a bathroom that need an overhall. The bathroom is original from 1960, and had shag carpet when we moved in. We immediately ripped up the carpet, and have been living on painted plywood since then. The tub has a ceramic tile surround and shower in one. The tile has obviously leaked at some point in the past, as the wall has a lot of give, and the grout lines have been messily caulked with silicone for a quick fix. We are looking for someone to rip out the old tub, redo the surround, probably just a fibreglass surround, but the wall will probably have to be reframed and boarded, the vanity needs to be replaced with a modern 2 sink one, a door has to be blocked off and turned into a closet. New toilet, flooring. There will also probably be a bit of drywall patching required. I redid the second bathroom already, and it looks fantastic, but it took me way to long, and we would like this other bathroom to be finished ASAP. All the plumbing is copper, no leaks or anything like that, perhaps some reconfiguring and updating. The basement is unfinished, so there is easy access to all the mechanical.
We would also like the bathroom window replaced. Anyone bidding on the work must have references and have examples to show us of previous renovations.
Looking to renovate bathroom of my condo. Building was built late 60s. Bathtub faucet can be reused.
Has to be completed by August 17th.
Here's a list of the major tasks to be done:
- replace bathtub (old one was rusted cast iron)
- tile the floor (incl. tile baseboards), around the bathtub and possibly bathtub skirting with big brown/grey-ish tile
- new toilet
- new countertop (fake granite) with new sink and faucet
- fix holes in walls and repaint; also repaint ceiling
- mount new mirror,
- mount a wall cabinet
- mount fixtures (light, toilet paper holder and towel racks)
- new light switch
I'm looking to up the value of my property without spending much more money than necessary. Suggestions and options are always welcome. Willing to help select parts and buy in advance if that reduces cost.
Thanks,
Matt
Hi there,
Does your company perform full bathroom renovations?
I am purchasing a home in Millwoods and the bathroom in the basement is currentlyunfinished. It will require a full renovation with fixtures included.
Here is a 3D virtual tour of the property:click here bathroom is on Floor 1 at the lower level. Would someone be able to give me a quote for a breakdown of the costs of installing fixtures, labour, and to finish the bathroom?
Let me know if you have any questions. I will be performing a home inspection on Monday July 19th at 6pm if someone is able to come out at that time.
Thank you for your time!

Gutted L-shaped basement washroom due to slow leak from cracked shower water supply line, resulted in some mold. Washroom remediation required stripping of flooring, disposal of walk in shower, toilet, vanity, and walls. Dimensions roughly from doorway to basement window 10' x 4' 9". From the window to form the L-shape where the shower and toilet were, the width expands to 7' from 4'9". The shower & toilet were in either corners of the L, with a space of 3'6" x 7'.
I have a small bathroom in an older hi-rise condo (14th floor) which the original tub & tub/shower faucets need to be replaced. I am looking for quotes on an direct replacement and am open to design changes as well. I am particularly interested in getting rid of the tub altogether & replacing with a shower.
If you are interested in this project,
Thx!
The wall section is 5 blocks by 5 blocks, the channel (perimeter) has been installed - and I have the blocks and the spacers, just need someone to install - and I'd like it to be clear silicone, not masonry. (I expect to use white silicone at the perimeter where the channel meets the block). They used to have special clear silicone for glass block but it's not available any longer so I just want something suitable that won't discolor or cloud with time.
