And on the staircase I'm open to suggestions. The bathroom is roughly 8ft x 4ft I'm looking to have ceramic floor installed. The floor is currently a peal and stick. This small renovation consists of two parts:
- Replacement of brick hearth for a full stone slab (main reason for the renovation)
- Removal of existing pre-finished jatoba flooring to be replaced with oak 3 1/4" strip flooring, sanded and stained.
The existing brick hearth is not rectangular (see pictures), 15 1/8" deep, back is 52" wide, front edge is 42" wide. The brick rises 4 1/8" above the subfloor, but the pre-finished flooring surrounds the hearth so it rises 3.5" above the flooring. We would like to replace it with a solid natural stone, perhaps a grey coloured unpolished granite. Note there is wainscotting on the right side that needs to remain undamaged. Since we will be replacing the flooring, we aren't worried about damaging the flooring.
The existing jatoba flooring was poorly installed (5/8" thick) with a lot of gaps. It must be removed, and replaced with oak 3 1/4" strip flooring. To be sanded and stained to match the rest of the house. The family room is 10' X 15'. We need online estimates to plan and prioritize the projects we will be doing this spring and summer, but will go back to those same contractors to provide a more accurate quote once we got closer to the expected project start. All materials to be supplied by the contractors. Stain used: Duraseal Royal Mohagany.
Hello,
we are moving into a 4-year-old home in December and need some help solving our hardwood floor problem. The floor is approximately 1000sqft on the main floor only (living and dining room), and it was installed 2 years ago by a 'do-it-yourself-er' who was apparently the WORST handy-person ever, the middle of the floor seems fine, but all the outside edges and bullnoses (there are 3) are horrible - not cut properly, pieced together using tiny pieces of wood - nothing matches up or is flush; etc etc etc!). We think the job entails - replacing 1/4 rounds, rip up the outside edge wood pieces and replace those as well as the bullnoses and sand and re-stain the floor. We are not experts by any means but think this is the most cost effective way to go, as the floor is only 2 years old. We are looking for an HONEST contractor who will do the job on time and on budget and to the highest level of quality. Please e-mail me to set up a time to see the space and give a free estimate. Kim. Thank you for your time
Brand new home, ownership takes place in October 2007.
-Rooms to be completed with pre-finished oak hardwood:
Family room
Master bedroom including walk-in closet
2 bedrooms including closets
The overall square footage of the home is 1525 sq. ft.
I would like an estimate for the hardwood and labour.
Hello,
would like to compare pricing on laminate/ hardwood floor installation:
- working area approx 1100sf;
- existing laminate floor removal (roughly 1030sf);
- approx 70 sf of tiles removal;
- baseboards insatllation;
- waste removal;
Please submit your quotes. Interested in nail down hardwood, planks will be 5''.
Thank you in advance!
Roughly around 800 sq ft in a condo, 80% area carpeted at the present moment. Carpet to be removed and replaced with new floor. Kitchen already has flooring but needs to be removed to maintain consistency in the suite.
Engineered hardwood is preferrable but may look at laminate. Too dark a flooring is not preferrable as walls are cream coloured at the present moment.
Site visit is recommended. Please bring samples (one with some grains, negligble grain etc)
Interested in hearing from contractors who have done lot of condo renovation.
I am looking for my current laminate floor to be changed to engineered hardwood floor. I live in a condo and the living room space is 16ft by 10ft. The bedroom space is 14ft by 10ft and a small halfway 9ft by 5.5ft. I found a color a like from homedepot, the color is Acacia golden and the number is 1000788534.
