I am primarily interested in renovating my unfinished basement to create a comfortable open play space for my young children with good open storage space to store toys, equipment, etc. I'm also interested to see if I could reserve part of the space for a home theatre area (interested in a overhead projection set up with a drop down screen). I may not fully invest in all the home theatre equipment right now, but at minimum would like the wiring all plumbed in.
I would also like to create some storage space (possibly a cedar-lined closet). We have a roughed-in fireplace that we are interested in installing a gas fireplace.
I would estimate that my basement is approximately 700- 800 square feet. We have a sub-basement that contains the furnace and electricals so the space I'm interested in renovating is unencumbered by the usual basement fixtures/equipment.
I'm interested in hearing from contractors that have designed and renovated basements for young families (i.e. understand the needs of parents).

PLEASE ONLY REPLY IF YOU CAN GIVE A DOLLAR FIGURE (APPROXIMATE) QUOTE. WE UNDERSTAND IT COULD CHANGE. Empty basement. Only has laundry appliances/plumbing, insulation (but no studding), roughed in shower and toilet, 200 amp breakers (10 free), furnace & hot water.
Approx 36 x 25. Need sub-floor, studding, drywalling, priming & painting, electrical and plumbing. 1 bedroom w. cupboard, 1 workroom w. sink & elec. stove outlet (for future use) (putting it under upstairs kitchen), living area, bathroom - shower, sink, toilet, storage room. Will carpet/tile ourselves. May do other work ourselves depending on costs (framing, sub-floor, painting)
Still considering how much, if any, to do ourselves. Would be helpful if quotes could have jobs broken down, i.e., electrical, drywalling.
Attached plan based on where existing plumbing is. willing to have it moved, i.e., move laundry room beside bathroom, to make basement flow better. Waste of space around current laundry room.
We would like to turn our spare room in the basement to a bedroom. The room is attatched to the main room, laundry room, and furnace room. It is a medium-small sized room, and a wall of some sort would need to be built to keep the laundry room seperate. As well, the furnace makes a lot of noise, so soundproofing is neccessary. Temperature control is also a problem, it is usually cold, year round. Safety is also a concern, as the basement is below ground, and the windows are fairly small. The house is about 30 years old, and hasn't had any major renovations done in a long while. We want to make the room as comfortable as possible for a teenage girl to live in through university, so she can have her privacy and still be at home.

The main washroom’s stand up shower has caused damage to our wall and we are currently looking for contractors to assist in quoting repair or quoting a whole Reno of this space to function for a family of 4.
We would prefer to schedule time with contractor to visit and see the space in person to provide us with a realistic cost, options available and eta for scope of work.
